Young Wise Tails Board Blog: Bali

Parker:

Since we have arrived in Bali, the waves have been really fun. Consistent chest to head high surf, slight wind bump, but shreddable to say the least. I got a lovely new quiver of boards right before this trip and have been trying the various shapes in all kinds of waves. So far, I’ve liked my 5’10’’ x 18 ½ x 2 ¼ DFR when the waves have been a little bit bigger and have more of a pocket. This board has generally more rocker than what I would normally ride in California, but it seems to fit the steep pocket at Keramas well. Personally, I think it lacks a little bit of drive on the face but through the pocket it feels good. Also, when the waves have gotten smaller and not as punchy I’ve been using my 5’9’’ x 18 5/8 x 2 ¼ Fred Rubble. Fred Rubbles seem to be the easiest all around short board that Channel Islands makes and I recommend bringing at least one on every surf trip (not just because Conner is my brother they do actually work good).
